I have recommended CCS to many people who are struggling with debt. It has definitely helped me get out of debt and support me while I have been doing it. However, my current counsellor seems to not have the knowledge about financial services that are endorsed by CCS.

The Credit Counselling Society has been a total blessing to both my husband and I. In the beginning it was hard to believe that someone was willing to help. We were drowning in dept caused by health issues fast. now looking back I am so thankful for CCS for saving us. We are not quite finished yet but have learned how to budget and have a less stressed life. Thanks again CCS

My counsellor and the staff were very professional and understanding, and very encouraging also. I had some hiccups when my counsellor took a medical leave, which left me with telephone appointments with a replacement; and when I had another income crisis that made it difficult to make my payment. But it was very reassuring to pay a single sum to the Society, and have them deal with the creditors. I have a huge load off my chest without that big debt.

I found out about your program from a friend, I called not knowing what to expect but they were extremely prompt and courteous with booking a telephone apt, and the Counsellor I spoke with was respectful and non-judgemental and really tried hard to help me. The program would have been very helpful to me but after an MVA allocated me to disability 5 years ago my world has become a "complex case" - which is an accurate description! I was not able to access your services but I would definitely recommend you for anyone who's financial life has caught up thru no fault of your own - compost happens! The Credit Counsellor I spoke with really tried to help me with a budget (I would finally make my 84 year old chartered accountant father very happy) ! which i will definitely do when I can see the way to allocating funds I don't have yet! But... she was very helpful and sent me some really good forms etc. Thanks anyways!

“When debts became a problem, I felt very overwhelmed – like I could not see the end of the tunnel. Picking up the phone felt like lifting a 10 pound rock, but they were very cheerful on the other end of the line. I came in, discussed my situation in privacy, and instantly got relief knowing I was in good hands.”

More About the Credit Counselling Society & Our Standards
We’ve offered non profit consumer credit counselling for well over 25 years. 95% of Canadians who get in touch with us are often helped without being charged a cent. People only choose to pay for our help if they decide to go on our Debt Management Program. This consolidates each one of someone’s credit card and other unsecured debt payments into a single monthly payment that they can afford. The program either eliminates all credit card interest rates or drastically reduces them. Although this is a valuable program that eliminates debt, allows someone to re-establish their credit, protects their privacy, and gets their finances back in order as fast as possible, it’s just one of a number of ways that we’re able to help people.
We believe that the best debt consolidation in Kelowna or debt help is an option that allows someone to get back on track as quickly as possible while helping them achieve their long-term financial goals. Unfortunately, our approach is at odds with the way some commission driven financial counselors, debt advisors, credit consultants, and credit advisors out there operate, but we believe that when someone is struggling financially, you need to look at all their options and focus on what’s going to help them the most in the long run. For this reason we don’t pay our staff commission – only a salary. In addition to this, to ensure our organization meets the highest national and international standards, we decided to join, open ourselves to audits by, and become accountable to the most respected organizations in our industry in Canada and North America, Credit Counselling Canada and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. We also report to a volunteer board of directors and to the Canada Revenue Agency. We’re also the only Canadian organization in our industry to annually open its books to an external auditor.
To benefit from one of our highly trained credit and debt counsellors having a look at your financial circumstances and working with you to see your choices for getting things back on track, give us a call now at 250-860-3000. Our help is free, confidential, and non-judgmental. The only thing you’ve got to lose is your debt.
Our goal is to always put consumers first and look out for their best interests in everything we do. One way we do this is through transparency and accountability. We are held accountable to the most rigorous standards in our industry.
